Brainfreeze

This Sunday we are having the BRAINFREEZE back to school bash and I can't wait. We are going to have so much fun. In all of the promo for the event, I keep saying take some time to freeze your brain before you go back to school and have to use it all the time. It's just a goofy statement, but it really got me thinking.
I have a very hard time turning my brain off or "freezing" it. I'm always thinking about what is coming next or what I need to accomplish. If I don't take notes while I'm listening to a sermon, I have a tendency to start thinking of what is on my to do list. If I don't really focus while I'm praying, I start wondering if I remembered to return an email or if I finished what I was working on earlier. It's not that I think God is unimportant...I just can't seem to stop thinking.
I have to wonder, what am I missing out on by not "freezing" my brain through some of those moments? What am I not hearing from God because my mind is racing? What peaceful, restful moments am I thinking my way right through? What is so simple that I make so complicated because I think too much about it?
So, while we need our brains to function and be useful most of the time, are there times that it might help us more to have a brainfreeze? Just a thought for you as you come enjoy yourself on Sunday and then get back into your school routines.
