Can I just say right up front, I really don't like moving. It's such a pain to pack everything up and haul all of the boxes. Then when you get to the new place, you have to unpack everything and figure out where it's all going to go. You have to come up with new ways or organizing everything and things aren't in the same place they have always been (at least always were while you were in your other house). It's just a big pain.
Even in all of my dislike, there is something great about moving. I have only lived in the house I'm in right now for 7 months and I can't believe how much junk I've accumulated. I can't believe how much mail I had that needed to go through the shredder and how much stuff I needed to get rid of, I've had a bunch of stuff in the garage for those 7 months and I can't believe how much of it I have gone without using and been just fine.
So, now I've got a new apartment with a new start. I get to start off with a clean and uncluttered place to live. This one is great because everything in it is brand new, which I've never had before!
Think about this concept in our lives. How much stuff just clutters up that we don't want to deal with? How much junk just sits there and gets in the way? What if we were to clean our lives out like we clean our houses out to move? What if we reorganized everything and got to start off clean and beautiful? Our lives might look drastically different if we did that every once in a while. We might have less junk to haul around and less stuff getting in the way of our relationships with our friends, family and most importantly God. We might just be happier people.
Just a thought for you....you can tell what I'm focused on right now. I will officially be an Islander as of Saturday!!
